Colorado: Where the Air Is Thin, the Craft Beer Is Strong, and Everybody Has a Dog

Welcome to the Mile High State, where the mountains are massive, the sunshine is endless, and Patagonia or a pair of Chacos legally counts as formalwear.

Colorado is an outdoor lover’s paradise filled with alpine lakes, jagged peaks, and rushing rivers. It’s also a place where "a quick weekend hike" might accidentally involve scrambling up a 14,000-foot mountain before breakfast, and where the most common traffic hazard is a Subaru with three roof racks attached going exactly 5 mph under the speed limit.

Between trying to stay hydrated at 8,000 feet, debating which local brewery has the best IPA, deciding what yoga studio to go to, and watching people wear shorts in a blizzard because "it’s a dry cold," living here is as entertaining as it is beautiful. Just drink plenty of water, put on extra lip balm, and try not to gasp too loudly at the altitude.
